行きます！

きのう、ちかてつでミッドタウンにいきました。ちちにあいました。それから、ハンターだいがくにいきました。あるいていきました。ともだちにあいました。ピッシャをたべました。それから、バスでコロンビアだいがくにきました。よじはんにねました。すごいね。

Why Japanese?

After being forced to study Spanish during middle school, I wanted a change in pace. When I learned that my high school offered Japanese, I quickly jumped on the opportunity. I am 1/8th Chinese so Asian cultures as a whole always appealed to me. I also love video games and technology so it seemed more fitting to study Japanese over Chinese. During the summer of 2010, I was fortunate to spend a month in Japan, getting the opportunity to explore Tokyo, Sapporo, Hamanaka, and Kyoto. My travels reinforced my love for the language and for the culture. After taking a break from Japanese during my senior year at high school, I hope to resume my studies at Columbia University.
