Why Japanese?
After being forced to study Spanish during middle school, I wanted a change in pace. When I learned that my high school offered Japanese, I quickly jumped on the opportunity. I am 1/8th Chinese so Asian cultures as a whole always appealed to me. I also love video games and technology so it seemed more fitting to study Japanese over Chinese. During the summer of 2010, I was fortunate to spend a month in Japan, getting the opportunity to explore Tokyo, Sapporo, Hamanaka, and Kyoto. My travels reinforced my love for the language and for the culture. After taking a break from Japanese during my senior year at high school, I hope to resume my studies at Columbia University.

What kinds of games do you play? (TOTALLY RELEVANT TO JAPANESE CLASS)
ReplyDeleteI play all types. Action, Adventure, Sports, Shooting, etc. I love games like halo, kingdom hearts, madden, call of duty, etc. You?
ReplyDeleteI used to be a huge Kingdom Hearts fan, but Kingdom Hearts introduced me to Final Fantasy and I never went back. :3 I also love things like Legend of Zelda, The World Ends With You, and other RPGs. I am terrible at most FPS games.
ReplyDeleteI played Final Fantasy before playing Kingdom Hearts but I wasn't a huge fan of the turn based gameplay. To each their own
ReplyDeletewhat types of video games do you play? mostly nintendo or others as well? and are video games different in japan or is it mostly just the same games we play spoken in a different language?
ReplyDeleteI have a Xbox 360 and a Wii but I play the xbox much more often. I haven't played too many Nintendo games recently. There are a lot of different games in Japan. There are a ton of franchises that never made it over to America but in addition to those games, Japan gets a lot of American games just dubbed over. The arcade culture in Japan is also incredible. They're always packed and have tons of games to play. After getting off from work, Japanese people will often visit the arcade to end the day.
